Practice Nurses: The practice nurses are available by appointment. They are able to offer a wide range of services but are particularly concerned with preventing disease and promoting good health. They undertake procedures including cervical smear tests, blood tests, ECG's, ear syringing, injections, dressings and routine immunisations.
They offer routine health checks. including those for newly registered patients, travel vaccinations, advice concerning minor ailments and injuries, and information and advice to improve your health. They also play an important part in monitoring and providing information for those with diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure and woman who are taking HRT. They are able to give contraceptive advice and advise on male and female sexual health.

Linda Jones has been appointed as Practice Project Nurse and will start June 1st.
Healthcare Assistant: The Healthcare Assistant works under the supervision of the Practice Nurses and is trained in clinical tasks such as taking blood and measuring blood pressure.
Pam Hampson - Health Care Assistant 
District / Community Nurses: These nurses provide nursing care for those ill at home, arrangements for which are normally made through your doctor. They can be contacted via reception.

Midwife: Our midwife, Ailsa Norman, works closely with the doctors in providing care for all expectant mothers. In addition to running antenatal clinics she works with the health visitor in helping prepare parents for the birth and care of their baby and with postnatal care of mother and baby until the baby is 10 days old.
Practice Management: The practice manager is responsible for the general management and day to day running of the practice and may be able to help you with any administrative and non-medical matters. The manager is also available to discuss improvement suggestions or complaints.

Bob came to the Practice to cover the maternity leave of the Practice Manager and never left! He enjoys the running of the Practice and the day to day challenges it brings. His main role is planning the strategic future of the Practice.
Assistant Practice Manager - Christine Hodges - 01395 280365
Chris has a long history in the health service. She has worked in Health Promotion and Information within Bedfordshire Health Authority before moving to the South West. She has been with the Practice for 11 years and looks after the day to day running of the Practice.
Health Visitor: The Health Visitor works mainly with young children and their parents. She can be contacted directly on 222766. An answerphone will take messages when no-one is in the office.
Clinics are held at Haldon House Surgery on a Tuesday 2-3pm, Withycombe Clinic on Wednesday 2-4pm and Tree Tops Surgery on a Tuesday 1.30-3.30pm

Counsellor: Hazel Broom
Hazel has spent the last 11 years working in Primary Care Mental Health, previously she worked for the NHS in Exeter managing the Staff Support & Counselling Service across Devon. She now works across four practices in East Devon as well as running the psycho-educational courses programme across East Devon. Hazel uses an integrative approach which encompasses her training in Rogerian Person Centred Therapy, T.A. Systemic Approaches, Psychodynamic Counselling, EMDR, (Eye Movement Desentisation Reprocessing), CBT ( Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), and IPT (Interpersonal Psychotherapy), as well as Counselling Supervision. Guided Self Help Worker : Sami Haboubi sees people who are stressed or down and takes them through high quality self-help books that are designed to tackle specific problems. He sees people monthly for 4 sessions. If you are interested then please speak to your GP or Practice Nurse.

Receptionists: Receptionists are the first people in the practice with whom you are likely to come into contact. They will help you make appointments with doctors and nurses, take messages for the doctor, give you results of laboratory tests and deal with routine office matters.
